Cooperation Assistance to the Indonesian National Police
In support to good governance in Indonesia, there is an urgent need to boost the capabilities of civilian police authorities in their role of maintaining public security and order in Indonesia.
Complying of the request from the Government of Indonesia on this issue, JICA has continued to encourage the Indonesian National Police (INP) by conducting several cooperation activities such as: 1. Mr. YAMAZAKI Hiroto, Chief Police Superintendent of the Japan National Police Agency (NPA), has been appointed as JICA Senior Advisor on General Police Matters to the Chief of INP since February 2001 to contribute to the process of capacity building in the framework to support police reform program in Indonesia 1. Mr. SEINO Masato, a Police Inspector of the Community Safety Bureau, of the Japan NPA has been dispatched as JICA Expert to the INP since October 2001 to contribute to the improvement of police services for the community in terms of communication control and command system. 2. Mr. IWANO Masayuki, Assistant Police Inspector of the Aichi Prefectural Police of Japan has been dispatched to the INP since March 13, 2002, as an Expert on Criminal Identification on Scene. Mr. DEMIYA Ryohei, Assistant Police Inspector of Hyogo Prefectural Police of Japan has also been dispatched as an Expert on Narcotic Identification Technique to the INP for a short-term period. 3. A special training course on Police Administration for Indonesia was conducted in Japan from February 5, 2002 to March 28, 2002, participated by 10 (ten) officers from the Indonesian National Police. |
